My family background is both Mennonite and Celtic, something I’m very proud of, so when my fiance and I decided to do a Celtic-style wedding, I was thrilled…right up until I realized that every Celtic-style dress out there is something out of Lord of the Rings or the medieval fair. I spent months doing research, talking to people all over the country and even tried international dress makers to get the look I wanted. Basically everyone told me that either they couldn’t do it or it was going to cost me a fortune. Then I found pure something. I sent her an email that basically told Kathryn I wanted a special look on a budget and just about fell off my chair when I got a response saying she was able to help me. My first visit to the studio was relaxed and fun, we spent just as much time laughing and talking as we did trying out dresses and styles. Kathryn and Jessica listened to everything I said and didn’t even blink an eye when even I felt like I was being overly picky about getting my dress just right. We modified my original idea and came out with a dress that can only be described as perfect. They even made me a Celtic-style cape to go with it, (without laughing when I asked for it!!) Not only that, but they worked with my budget and made me feel like I was the most important person they were working with. I recommend them to everyone I know and keep extra business cards in my wallet to hand out. I can’t say enough what an absolutely amazing experience I had working with pure something.

Working with Kathryn Bass to create my dream wedding dress was a thoroughly wonderful experience from start to finish! My (then) Fiance (now Husband) and I arrived with some very specific ideas on lace, design, veil etc – and Kathryn literally turned all of these ideas and all of our requests into the most beautiful reality! From the inception of the design to the sourcing of a ‘difficult to find’ lace, to the intricate stitching and magnificent structure of my made to measure low-back dress – Kathryn was there for us 100%. Each of the fittings and each of the consultations were wonderful experiences! I never felt stressed or worried, in fact, I felt pampered, listened to and really really cared for. Kathryn is professional and courteous to the core, and her skills as a dress maker are second to none! She is a breath of fresh air, an extraordinary talent and an absolute pleasure to work with. I would recommend Kathryn Bass & Pure Something Clothing to all Brides who dream of wearing ‘their’ one of a kind dress on their big day. Thank you so much Kathryn!

I had been thinking of going with a custom-made dress after looking around and not finding anything I liked, and then I discovered I was pregnant! So that sealed the decision. I discovered Pure Something and was relieved when Kathryn assured me she could handle my ever-changing body. She was able to solidify an amorphous idea I had for a dress, and turn it into something simple, elegant, pretty, and best of all comfortable, while navigating my expanding tummy! I felt beautiful.

When I went to see Kathryn for the first time, I was a bit anxious. I had my wedding and reception outfits custom embroidered in India during my trip in 2007. However, because my trip was so short, I didn’t have time to get them made. After our initial meeting, I felt like my stress of finding a dressmaker locally who could make my vision come to life was finally over. Kathryn made me feel at ease as she took me step by step through the process of making my outfits. She beautifully handled the intricate embroidery on my dresses and the final result was absolutely stunning! Both of my dresses came out looking flawless and better then I had ever imagined.
Thank you again for your creative ideas in making me look perfect on my wedding day.

I was happy, and relieved, to find Pure Something after several shopping trips left me worried that I would never find my wedding dress. I was looking for something simple and elegant on a budget and you delivered. I was not only happy with the finished product but the whole process was fun and relaxed. Thank you.

After looking in a few bridal salons I knew that it would be difficult to find a wedding dress that I would fall in love with. I was recommended by a friend to see Kathryn at Pure Something and it was exactly what I needed. They were so creative, talented and wonderfully gracious throughout the entire design process. I had several fittings to ensure that I was getting the dress that I have always dreamed of, and I did! I loved my dress and it was even more beautiful than I initially imagined. I fully recommend Pure Something. You will end up with a gorgeous one of a kind dress that is beyond your expectations.

When I first met Kathryn and Jessica, I had been to a few bridal boutiques and had been left feeling very discouraged.

Seeing pure(something)’s dresses made me so happy! They were beautiful, very unique and Kathryn and Jessica made me feel so beautiful at the first meeting I couldn’t see myself getting a dress anywhere else.

I had the idea of the top of one dress and the bottom of another dress. I told them that I had been watching a lot of “Deadwood” and wanted the dress to mimic the bustle of one of the “soiled doves” from the show. They didn’t even blink. Kathryn said, “okay but in what colour?”. I was in love.

The back of the dress became known as the “oyster bits” for the ruffles reminded me of the frills of an oyster. Again, neither of the girls even blanched when described my dress using food associations.

The fittings were awesome, we laughed so much! The moment I had the final dress on it was so amazing. The tiniest details filled every part of me with happiness. The lace on the underskirt, now that’s attention to detail!!

Everyone complimented my dress. Everyone. Complete strangers who passed by while we were waiting kept asking me where I got it. I’ve been telling everyone to go to pure(something). It was honestly the easiest part of the whole wedding preparation. Pure(something) took so much pressure off of me, I love these girls!!

Kathryn was wonderful to work with in making the perfect dress for my wedding day! Everyone raved about how beautiful it was! She has a good eye for styles and fabrics that will flatter different body types and is enthusiastic about incorporating your ideas into her designs. Her creativity and dedication show through in the finished product.

I was so pleased that Kathryn was also able to make me a veil and purse to perfectly match my dress, plus all of the bridesmaid dresses and a special wedding outfit for the mother-of-the-bride (who has worn it multiple times since!).

Thank you so much for everything!
